Update from SIBA on Return To Bowling

Monday 14th September

The SIBA Executive Committee has now published guidance for Clubs on how they anticipate a Return to Indoor Bowling after the lockdown caused by COVID-19.

This guidance has been prepared based on the Scottish Government’s Route Map and in consultation with Indoor Bowling Centres, SIBA Executive Committee, our partners and stakeholders.

The document (Click on the link below to read in full) has been sent to the Scottish Government and sportscotland and feedback has been received.  It will be updated as we move to different phases of the Scottish Government guidelines.

Please remember all advice and guidance in our 'Return to Indoor Bowling Guidelines' is superseded by that of the Scottish Government. You can find out the latest general advice on their website.  The next Government review date is anticipated to be around Thursday 30 July.

The SIBA Executive Committee currently believe that Indoor Bowling Clubs should be aiming for a return of competitive play in their clubs for Monday 14th September (there is a Government review date on Thursday 10th September) though each club will be able to recommence once the Scottish Government has authorised the start of Indoor Sports using their Route Map.

Further information about the way forward for our club will follow as soon as possible.

BIG LOTTERY BONANZA - 15th June 2020

During this very difficult and demanding time it would be great to get some good news - well here it is!

You will recall that a local community group Cliftonville & Coatdyke Community Group, with the full backing of the club directors, was set up to purchase the building and car park from North Lanarkshire Council.  After nearly two years of hard work they have finally succeeded.

The Scottish Land Fund on behalf of the National Lottery Community fund have granted the group £190,690.

This wonderful grant will cover the cost of purchasing the building and car park, Lawyers fees, new disabled facilities,

some immediate repairs and the creation of a part-time Development Officer post for 1 year.

This is great news for Coatbridge Indoor Bowling Club going forward into our 50th anniversary year.

The club now becomes the 'anchor tenant' with a long term lease guaranteed and it secures the club's future in the long term.  We can look forward to working with the new community group to tackle the many projects to upgrade the facilities.

The building will now be available to all local residents and it is the group's intention to provide some much needed social events for members.

If you would like any further information on the club feel free to contact us by email or telephone.
